CIBSE Lifts Group



The CIBSE Lifts Group is formed of members who have an interest in vertical transportation.

The group meets regularly to promote technical standards, training and education, publications and various aspects of the industry. We have regular seminars which are traditionally well attended and deal with specific topics. The group, although formal in structure and operation, is a friendly meeting place for those interested in lifts and escalators.

Membership of the Lifts Group is open to all whether a member of the Institution or not, and there is no charge.  You can join on-line by filling in the application form.

The CIBSE Lifts Group seeks to encourage research and offers research scholorships when funds allow.

Honorary Fellowship for Dr Gina Barney

The CIBSE AGM & Presidential Address was held at The Royal Society in Carlton House Terrace, London on Thursday May 8th 2014. The Lifts Group were represented by Dr Gina Barney, Lifts Group Chairman, John Bashford and Dave Cooper. John read a citation about Gina and her many roles within the CIBSE Lifts Group and our industry at large. The outgoing President of CIBSE, George Adams, presented Gina with an Honorary Fellowship in recognition of this work. Dave Cooper's appointment to the main Council of CIBSE was also announced during the AGM.
